ABB and ECL Group partner to accelerate NZ e-mobility

ABB is partnering with leading technology and energy solutions firm ECL Group to roll out EV charging infrastructure for key customers throughout New Zealand.

ECL Group specialises in refuelling and digital technology solutions and has been selected by ABB as an e-mobility system integrator and service provider.

The partnership aims to help New Zealand achieve its net zero emissions goal by 2050.

“The EV market is certainly an exciting and fast-moving industry, and we’re committed to investing in our capabilities in the market and the training and development of our sales and operational resources,” ECL Group chief executive Vivek Rajendran says.

“We have a strong pipeline of opportunities and look forward to working with ABB to help the country move forward on its decarbonisation goals, by providing charge point owners with a highly reliable and trustworthy channel partner network.”

ECL Group is already partnering with ABB to offer OpenLoop, an open EV charging platform and mobile app that enables a seamless recharging experience across charging locations for public EV charging operators as well as commercial and fleet owners.

ABB has sold more than 460,000 EV chargers across 88 markets, in excess of 21,000 DC fast chargers and 440,000 AC chargers.

“E-mobility is essential for New Zealand to meet its net zero emissions target and to help create a sustainable future,” ABB New Zealand country managing director Ewan Morris says.

“Our partnership with ECL will enhance the deployment of our leading EV charging portfolio throughout New Zealand.”

ABB offers a total EV charging solution from compact, quality AC wallboxes, reliable DC fast charging stations with robust connectivity, to innovative on-demand electric bus charging systems, and deploys infrastructure that meets the needs of the next generation of smarter mobility.

ECL Group provides technology and energy solutions across New Zealand with 18 offices and more than 250 employees.
